A consultation paper will be brought in order to reduce the time and hassle associated with the switching over. This will also cut the MNP charges by 79%, making it Rs. 4. Previously, the charge was reduced to Rs. 19.

As per the proposed plan, TRAI will seek assistance from the industries in order to introduce better initiatives in the scheme. At present, the switching over takes about 7 days, which is completed in a few hours in the other countries. Therefore, the TRAI is putting the endeavor to keep up with the pace of the global standard. The errors related to code also need working to offer ease of access to the consumers.

As per the scheme offered by the Mobile Number Portability, a consumer will be able to keep their mobile number while changing the service provider. The activity can be accomplished irrespective of any service provider and the decision taken by the consumers can range from tariff plans to personal preferences.

For a few months, a few mobile networks are facing a huge trouble and are either on the verge of closing or have already suspended the operation. Some of the service providers are Reliance Communications, Aircel, and Tata Teleservices. These operators have given the consumers an option to port to the other favorable networks without losing connectivity on the mobile phones.
